About you...

The School Admissions Assistant is a vital role involving processing applications, maintaining accurate records and providing administrative support to the Admissions Team. You will help ensure children secure school places and that schools and families receive an efficient, high-quality service.

You will demonstrate well-developed literacy alongside strong administrative and IT skills.

About the team...

We are a small, friendly and supportive team at the heart of the school admissions process. We are experts in complex admissions legislation and the School Admissions Code, providing high-quality advice and support to schools and families.

The work is varied, rewarding and often fast-paced, with key statutory deadlines throughout the year. While we work independently, we collaborate closely, supporting one another to deliver excellent outcomes and ensure every deadline is met.

Key responsibilities...

Process applications for school admissions, including first entry to primary schools, transfers from infant to junior school, secondary school admissions and in-year applications.

Maintain school waiting lists and collect pupil number-on-roll data from maintained schools and, where required, own admission authority schools.

Process Free School Meal applications through the Eligibility Checking Engine and communicate eligibility information to schools to support Pupil Premium funding claims.

Provide efficient administrative and clerical support to the School Admissions Team.

Deliver excellent customer service to parents, schools and other stakeholders via telephone, email and face-to-face contact.
