Sales Account Executive - Microsoft Security

Softwerx

Date: 18 hours ago
City: Cambridge
Contract type: Full time

New business. Microsoft expertise. Security.

Softwerx is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced new-business Account Executive who knows the Microsoft ecosystem and can turn customer challenges into commercial opportunities.

This isn’t a role for someone who simply sells Microsoft licences.

We want someone who understands Microsoft 365 and Azure – including Business Premium, E3, E5, E7 and relevant add-ons – and has a strong commercial understanding of Azure consumption. You’ll be able to articulate what a customer’s licensing, Azure usage and wider Microsoft estate mean for their security posture, capability and investment.

You’ll sell our secure365 Security Managed Services, Microsoft Security solutions and consultancy to net-new customers, supported by our BDR, Marketing and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Win net-new mid-market customers and deliver against revenue targets.
  • Build your own pipeline alongside BDR and Marketing-generated opportunities.
  • Lead credible discovery conversations with IT Managers, IT Directors, CISOs and other senior stakeholders.
  • Understand customers’ Microsoft environments, licensing position, Azure consumption and security priorities, identifying opportunities to optimise their Microsoft investment while strengthening their security posture.
  • Identify opportunities across Microsoft Security, managed services and consultancy.
  • Translate technical requirements into clear business value and commercial outcomes.
  • Own the sales cycle from first conversation through to negotiation and close.
  • Bring our security specialists into opportunities at the right time.

Essential Experience

You’ll be a proven new-business hunter with 3+ years’ experience selling Microsoft, cybersecurity, MSP, cloud or IT services.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft licensing across Business Premium, E3, E5, E7 and relevant add-ons, including the security capabilities available across different licence levels.
  • A working understanding of Azure consumption and the Azure commercial model, with the ability to discuss a customer’s Azure usage and recognise opportunities for optimisation, security and additional services.
  • Confidence discussing Defender, Sentinel, Entra and the wider Microsoft Security ecosystem.
  • Experience selling solutions, managed services and consultancy, not just licences or transactional products.
  • The ability to run effective discovery with both commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of creating pipeline and winning new customers.
  • The credibility to explore a customer’s Microsoft licensing and Azure estate in an initial discovery conversation, identify gaps and opportunities, and know when to bring in a technical specialist.

You don’t need to be a security architect. But you do need to understand Microsoft well enough to recognise the opportunity, challenge the customer and explain the value.

Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA)

Softwerx is a member of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), reflecting our focus on Microsoft Security and our position within the wider Microsoft security ecosystem. Softwerx's MISA accreditation was highlighted internally as an important part of the company's position as an independent Microsoft security specialist.

For our Account Executives, that means joining a business where Microsoft Security is at the heart of the proposition.

You’ll work alongside experienced technical and security specialists, helping customers connect their Microsoft licensing, Azure estate and security priorities to the right combination of Microsoft Security technology, secure365 managed services and consultancy.

You’ll be expected to understand the value of our relationship with Microsoft and use our specialist capabilities, credentials and expertise to build credibility with customers.

Why Softwerx?

You’ll join an independent Microsoft Security specialist with MISA accreditation at an exciting stage of growth. You’ll have:

  • A strong Microsoft Security and managed services proposition.
  • Dedicated BDR and Marketing support.
  • Experienced security consultants and technical specialists to support you.
  • The opportunity to build a significant net-new customer base.
  • The chance to work in a business where Microsoft Security, managed services and consultancy are central to the growth strategy.

Interested?

If you’re a new-business seller who really understands Microsoft licensing – from Business Premium through E3, E5 and E7 to the wider add-on portfolio – understands Azure consumption, enjoys technology and can turn a customer’s Microsoft estate into a meaningful security and commercial conversation, we’d like to hear from you.

Location:

This is a hybrid role, with travel to our Cambridge head office (CB22 3GN), customer meetings and Microsoft, partner and industry events.

Salary - Experience Dependent

The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK and complete a standard DBS check at the conditional offer stage. Softwerx is unable to provide visa sponsorship.
