West Midlands Police is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Recruitment & Selection Assistant to join our Recruitment Team. As a Recruitment & Selection Assistant, you will provide essential administrative support throughout the recruitment process, ensuring candidates receive an efficient and professional experience from application through to appointment. Working closely with Recruitment Officers and a range of internal stakeholders, you will help ensure recruitment processes run smoothly while maintaining accurate records and delivery high-quality service to all. You will be a key member of the team helping to achieve all aims set out by the force. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin their career in the Recruitment and HR world.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing accurate and timely administrative support throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Maintaining accurate candidate records and ensuring information is stored securely and in line with policy.
  • Supporting the administration of selection and internal promotions processes.
  • Updating HR systems, including Oracle Fusion HR, to ensure candidate records are accurate and up to date.
  • Building positive working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and customers across the organisation.
  • Promoting the values and reputation of West Midlands Police through a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Delivering a high-quality service that meets agreed service standards, performance targets, audit requirements, Force policies and statutory legislation.

Essential

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to manage an extensive workload
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • High accuracy levels in work with clear attention to detail
  • Experience of using Microsoft applications

Desirable

  • Experience working in a recruitment or business support setting
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System
  • Proven experience in a position within a fast-paced high-volume environment
  • Previous experience working within an administrative post

Probationary Policy

Under the Probation Policy, if you are currently in your probation period, “during your probationary period you will not be permitted to apply for alternative police staff roles within the Force unless there are exceptional circumstances. In such cases, you would require the support of your line manager prior to applying for alternative roles, and if successful, your probationary period will start over - Policies - Probation Period .

Please note: Successful candidates will commence their employment at the lowest point of the advertised pay scale. Progression through the pay band is achieved through annual incremental increases during employment with West Midlands Police.

Prospective officers and staff must be held to a higher standard of behaviour and accountability than members of the public, and that therefore their right to privacy can be fettered in certain circumstances. This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.

Hours: This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday between core hours.
