Role Overview
We are looking for a Quality Control Operator to join the team based in Witham. This role is responsible for ensuring all final artwork files meet agreed quality standards before release, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and right-first-time delivery.
Working closely with Artwork, Production and Project Management teams, the Quality Control Operator will check digital packaging files for content accuracy, technical print compliance, brand consistency and legal/regulatory requirements. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Quality Control & Proofreading
Role Overview

Quality Control & Proofreading
- Accurately check digital packaging artwork files in line with the QA manual and client specifications
- Proofread all copy, data and legal text, highlighting errors and issues where required
- Ensure colour, images and graphics match the approved client brief and brand guidelines
- Verify that artwork is print-ready and technically correct, including sizes, line thicknesses, barcodes and printer specifications
- Check printability and flag any potential production or prepress risks
- Read, understand and apply customer, legal and regulatory specifications across all packaging artwork
- Ensure files conform to client corporate guidelines, style guides and master artwork standards
- Maintain strong brand awareness and support consistency across full product ranges, including hero SKUs
- Ensure adherence to company SOPs, industry standards and client ways of working
- Log and maintain accurate project and quality information within the project tracking system
- Record time spent on projects and document quality issues or corrective actions
- Ensure relevant stakeholders have up-to-date information on project status and quality concerns
- Work within agreed production workflows and deadlines
- Attend project or production meetings to understand artwork and quality requirements
- Communicate clearly and effectively with Artwork, Production and Project Management teams
- Actively participate within the pod or team, supporting a collaborative, right-first-time approach
- Make recommendations to management for improvements to quality processes, tools and reporting
- Support additional tasks and responsibilities as required
- Previous experience in quality control, proofreading or artwork checking within a packaging, print or reprographics environment
- Strong understanding of FMCG retail packaging, print and prepress processes
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident proofreading skills, including technical, legal and regulatory content
- Proficient in relevant software, including Adobe Acrobat and Cloudflow/Hub X Max
- Strong IT skills and ability to work accurately with digital systems
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Clear and confident communicator, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Methodical and quality-driven with a right-first-time mindset
