FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Python Developer to work for our client within the Public Sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leatherhead (minimum 1 day per week on-site).
Our client is seeking a self-motivated Python Developer to support the development of microservices for processing complex scientific and engineering data in a secure, high-performance environment. The role sits within a growing Secure Space Systems function, working on projects related to Space-based Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Work typically starts in prototyping and evolves into Agile delivery using frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe and DevSecOps.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Python-based microservices for processing complex datasets
- Design and implement RESTful APIs using OpenAPI and JSON standards
- Build and execute automated tests to ensure performance and reliability
- Work within Agile delivery teams using frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe and DevSecOps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve evolving technical challenges
About You
- Strong experience developing and testing Python microservices using Docker
- Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs with OpenAPI and JSON
- Experience working in Agile environments with a delivery-focused mindset
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL and data-driven application development
- Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to changing requirements
Minimum number of 5+ years’ experience in:
Python development and microservices architecture
Additional requirements:
- UK National with active SC Clearance
- No unrestricted travel permits (e.g. OCI, NICOP)
- Willingness to work on-site in Leatherhead at least 1 day per week
Desirable skills:
- Experience with GIS technologies
- Experience with workflow tools such as NiFi
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Temporal
