Project Manager

About the role

At National Grid Ventures, our Interconnectors business is driving the transition to a cleaner, more secure and affordable energy future. Our vision is clear: to accelerate a clean, secure and affordable energy future through world-class interconnection and offshore assets.

We are now looking for a Project Manager to join our Interconnector Construction Directorate, playing a key role in the delivery of CAPEX projects linked to the lifetime strategy of the IFA interconnector.

This is a highly varied and impactful role where you will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion—delivering safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The role is based onsite at IFA1 in Sellindge, Kent so we are ideally looking for candidates who live within an hour commute of site.

The role also comes with a job requirement car and there will be some occasional travel to different sites.

What you'll do

  • Lead refurbishment and replacement projects across the IFA interconnector, ensuring continued reliability and availability for consumers
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables
  • Take full accountability for delivering projects to time, cost and quality, ensuring key milestones are achieved
  • Provide regular and accurate project reporting, including financial forecasting, SHESQ performance, progress tracking and risk management
  • Lead and support the investment process through pre-construction, delivery and project closure, ensuring governance is maintained throughout
  • Own and embed safety, health, environment, security and quality (SHESQ) standards across your projects, demonstrating visible leadership and driving continuous improvement
  • Foster a strong safety culture where all team members feel empowered to raise concerns
  • Drive proactive stakeholder and customer engagement to ensure successful project outcomes and high levels of satisfaction
  • Lead commissioning strategy for IFA construction activities

What you'll need

  • Proven experience managing and coordinating a portfolio of projects
  • Advanced project management capability, with a strong track record of delivery
  • Strong knowledge and application of CDM, safety and environmental regulations
  • Understanding of the electricity transmission system
  • Financial and cost control experience across complex projects
  • Experience of contracting strategies and managing procurement through full project lifecycle
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed, data-led decisions
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate and remove blockers
  • Experience developing teams and consistently delivering high-quality outcomes

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.

This role closes on 7th July 2025 at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary.
