Project Engineer

Beaufort

Date: 2 hours ago
City: Ellesmere Port
Contract type: Full time
About Us

At Beaufort, our Engineering team is responsible for developing everything from initial concept to final product design. This includes envisioning new products, evolving existing lines, and delivering solutions that align with our customers' safety needs and our brand values. Our engineers combine world-class reliability with functional innovation to support Beaufort’s vision: to be the most trusted provider of safety services.

Job Summary

Working within the Test and Qualification team, you will play a key role in organising and executing project activities in support of product qualification. You will generate technical documentation and liaise with the engineering, production, finance and production disciplines to ensure project plans are realised.

Analytical, organised and effective communicators will thrive in this role and enjoy the day-to-day variety it offers. It is a great opportunity for a less experienced engineer to learn Beaufort’s business and have a significant impact on products used in survival critical environments. Although initially focused on project delivery and administration, the role will develop into a multi-disciplined engineer who acts as a product qualification and technical cornerstone for the business.

Requirements

  • Generate and actively manage short and long project plans and tasks. Efficiently and regularly communicate progress and drive tasks to completion.
  • Develop, execute, and report on test plans, with the opportunity to participate as a test subject when safe. Compile any associated safety documentation.
  • Interpret and manage often complex technical requirements to support execution of qualification programme plans.
  • Identify and report on qualification evidence from legacy and modern products.
  • Ensure tasks are realised on-time by understanding business processes and liaising with different departments.
  • Conduct thorough product risks assessments including Failure Modes and Effects Analyses.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering systems and practices.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive team environment.
  • Promote and uphold a safety-first culture throughout all activities.
  • Engage in professional development through formal & informal training, including self-led learning and mentoring.
  • Stay up to date on relevant technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, consistently meeting commitments.
  • Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Holds themselves and others accountable to support delivery of the project plan.
  • Analytical thinker who can interpret complex and sometimes conflicting data to solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communicator, adaptable to various audiences and stakeholders.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles, with the ability to apply fundamentals to new novel situations.
  • Basic competency in 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) design and drafting tools.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 1–2 years of industrial engineering experience.
