Summary Of Role
The Raytheon UK Weapons Business has a fantastic opening for a new Project Manager (PM) to join the team to deliver a complex, high-profile project for one of our key customers. This role offers the opportunity to manage a maritime, product-based, project, as well as to take on other prospects as they arise.
Based in Harlow, Essex, the role offers an opportunity for the right candidate to manage an exciting and rewarding project within the wider team. This area of Raytheon works with innovative technology, and the position offers an opportunity to contribute to global security with the added benefit of personal development and career progression in an exciting and interesting division in the wider business. Whilst also affording the opportunity to further develop skills and provide opportunities for career progression.
This role will be accountable for the execution of a key bid within the Weapons Business and will require the PM to lead a team to develop a solution, shape a proposal submission and set up the programme from inception through to delivery, whilst retaining the collaborative and supportive culture of the whole team.
The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering the project safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholders, planning to mitigate project risks and realise project opportunities.
The successful candidate would benefit from the opportunity to manage a complex project in a supportive and collaborative environment. There is an emphasis placed on managing key stakeholders, including within the supply chain and the wider customer community to ensure requirements are correctly identified and articulated. The successful candidate will have a track record of managing large bids and setting up and managing complex programmes post contract award. Experience in managing projects in the Naval domain is desired but not essential.

Main Duties
- Lead and manage a complex bid, from opportunity shaping and proposal development to contract award and mobilisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a compelling and compliant proposal, and a plan for integrated delivery and seamless execution across all project elements.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support a shared project vision.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and flawless execution
- Manage bid/project performance against agreed milestones, KPIs, and contractual deliverables.
- Own the proposal budget and ensure financial targets and customer commitments are consistently met.
- Identify and mitigate risks while actively capturing and exploiting opportunities to enhance bid/project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with Defence Standards, security protocols, and governance requirements.
- Ensure applicable export licences are obtained.
Essential:
- Experience in competitive bids, delivering proposals and transition them into a delivery programme.
- Delivering time critical proposals and projects.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders and technical experts.
- Create and maintain momentum in a project
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and governance frameworks
- Recognise opportunities and risks, be proactive and drive positive outcomes
- Creative and open to innovation to solve problems, especially when resolving ambiguity.
- A confident team player who works collaboratively with others and inspires them to follow in their positive example.
- Able and willing to travel to customers and suppliers within the UK and occasionally overseas.
- Bachelor’s degree in either Project Management, Engineering, Business Management, or any related discipline
- Professional project management qualification such as Project Management Institute PMP, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent recognised certification
- Experience delivering programs within the maritime or wider defence domain
- Experience in agile delivery approaches within defence engineering programmes
- Defence Prime or Ministry of Defence (MoD) customer experience
