The Role

Wrexham AFC is seeking a creative, organised and highly-motivated Photographer to join our growing full-time media department. The successful candidate will play a key role in capturing and producing high-quality photographs for all Club platforms, social channels and departments. They will also help to manage the Media & Communications department’s photography output, working with and briefing freelance photographers and managing the Club’s photography archive.

Main Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Photo Management

• Capture photographs at all home and away matches, both pre-match, in-game and post-match, including those needed for commercial and community purposes.
• Perform any retouching required for necessary quality of final photo product and send these promptly (including with regularity throughout matches) for posting to the Club’s social and digital channels.
• Complete post-production and ensure photos are collated and sent to the relevant internal teams.
• Complete metadata logging and archiving of photos.
• Cover photography, as required, at Men’s, Women’s and Academy training sessions across the Club’s different sites.
• Maintain, manage and make use of the Club’s photo archive.
• Capture behind-the-scenes footage to provide supporters with unique access to the Club.
• Develop ideas from initial concepts right through to the publishing stage.
• Help to drive the club’s content strategy forward with fresh, innovative and ambitious ideas.
• Work alongside videographers, social media and partners, with the Digital Lead and Social Media Lead to maximise content output.
  
  

Content Planning, Briefing and Freelance Management

• Work with the Head of Media and Communications, Social Media Lead and Digital Lead to ensure all of the Club’s photography needs are met, including helping to manage freelance photographers - preparing and enforcing briefs, and collecting their photographs for archiving purposes.
• Work with the Club’s graphic designers and social media to ensure photos are supplied to specified briefs in order to maximise content across the Club’s social and digital channels.
• Contribute creative ideas for new content series and campaigns.
• Work closely with the Media, Commercial and Marketing teams to develop engaging content strategies.
• Support sponsor activation and branded content initiatives.
• Help identify emerging trends and opportunities across digital media platforms.
  
  

Club business activities

• Complete shooting and post-production for selected business activities, and lead freelancers where additional support is required.
• Example activities include (not exhaustive); Capturing photography at selected Wrexham AFC business events, kit photo shoots, retail leisurewear and lifestyle shoots, new signings, awards presentations and partnership launches.
• Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the club, producing photography to meet both internal and external requirements.
  
  

Asset Management

• Maintain the Club’s organised archive of photography, including historic photos where sourced.
• Ensure all content is stored securely and labelled appropriately.
• Manage photography equipment and ensure it remains in excellent working condition.
  
  

About You

You'll have:

• Good understanding of social and digital media, and the visual requirements and trends of each
• Have fresh, innovative and ambitious ideas.
• Understanding of social media trends and audience engagement strategies.
• Experience in setting up and using photo studios, including lighting and backdrops

Experience and Qualifications required:

• Proven experience in live sports photography (preferably football), including shooting in both day-time and night-time settings.
• Strong proficiency in, and understanding of, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and other relevant photo editing software, and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
• Excellent camera skills and understanding of camera settings, lenses and lighting requirements
• Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Time management skills to be able to plan and regulate workload including the ability to prioritise demands and thrive under pressure.
• An enthusiastic personality and teamwork approach that is reflected in their work.
• Ability to keep calm under pressure.
• Full UK driving license/access to transport in order to work across the Club’s sites and cover both home and away matches
• High level of flexibility
