Job Title: School Caretaker (Part-Time)

Location: Allenton

Hours: 10 hours per week (6:15am – 8:15am, Monday to Friday)

Salary: £13.50 per hour

Contract: Term-time only (39 weeks) plus 2 additional weeks during school holidays (41 weeks per year total)

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join our close-knit team at a small community nursery. This is a vital role focused on keeping the site safe, well-maintained, and ready for each day. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the environment and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out essential site safety checks, including fire alarms, burglar alarms, and water testing Ensuring the premises are secure, well-prepared, and fit for daily use Maintaining external areas, including cleaning and basic grounds upkeep Handling minor repairs (e.g. unblocking toilets, fixing door handles) Moving, setting up, and assembling furniture as required Undertaking basic painting and decorating tasks Supporting cleaning staff with occasional internal duties when needed
About You
    Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or facilities role is desirable Practical and hands-on, with the confidence to tackle minor repairs independently Reliable, punctual, and able to take initiative Good awareness of health and safety practices Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to step in where needed
Safeguarding

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
