Operations Officers/Lifeguards

Duties and responsibilities:

Provide cover as Duty Manager when on shift where suitably qualified and experienced to do so.

Be responsible for the health and safety of all persons using the facilities and maintaining a high profile within the centre. To personally ensure compliance with key health and safety regulations including COSHH, Risk Assessments, PPE, PUWER, EAP’s and NOP’s, PSOP’s Manual Handling and other relevant legislation. To keep up to date with changing health and safety legislation and new systems of work.

Undertake facility monitoring to ensure that agreed tasks are undertaken in the correct manner to the specified standard and that facility areas are kept tidy and presentable at all times.

Ensure that all public areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest possible standard and ensure the full implementation of operations / cleaning and monitoring systems and procedures.

Maintain sports and other equipment in a safe, clean and usable condition at all times and to report defects to senior staff as necessary in line with operating procedures.

Advise customers on the use of facilities / services and provide a high standard of customer care.

Ensure that personal lifesaving and first aid qualifications are kept up to date and fitness levels are maintained in order to undertake duties effectively.

Undertake staff training, some of which may take place outside of normal working hours, to attend meetings as directed and work as an effective team member.

Assist in the implementation of the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 ensuring personal compliance at all times.

The postholder will work closely with the Council’s Digital Transformation team to continue to improve the quality of life for local communities and put local people at the heart of everything the Council does, continually driving forward customer service improvements throughout the Council.

To undertake any other related duties and responsibilities as they arise.
