We are currently seeking a talented Multi Skilled Carpenter with the ambition and drive to succeed. Reporting to the Contract Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a variety of reactive maintenance tasks independently, while also supporting Building Fabric and Civils trades colleagues in delivering planned and reactive maintenance works to the highest standards.

The Multi Skilled Carpenter Shall

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance works within agreed timescales, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with current regulations and client specifications.
  • Inspect plant and equipment, accurately recording findings and reporting any defects or concerns.
  • Work effectively as part of a maintenance team on a variety of repair and maintenance activities, while also being capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Complete assigned tasks within agreed timeframes, ensuring practical completion targets are consistently achieved.
  • Undertake a wide range of maintenance and repair works, including building fabric installations, carpentry works, and minor civil repairs.
  • Monitor, manage, and replenish site stock levels as required.
  • Deliver materials and equipment between sites and local suppliers safely and efficiently.
  • Support effective site waste management and maintain clean, organised working areas.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting safe working practices at all times.
  • Be comfortable and competent working at height when required.

Preferred Experience and Skills

In addition to the general requirements above, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience installing timber and fire-rated doors in line with relevant regulations and standards.
  • A minimum of two years' professional experience in both first-fix and second-fix carpentry.
  • Competence in the safe use of woodworking machinery, power tools, and hand tools (tools can be provided).
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • General trade knowledge with the ability to carry out minor plastering, tiling, and associated repair works.
  • Basic painting and decorating skills to complete minor touch-up and finishing works.
  • General knowledge of brickwork and the ability to undertake minor masonry repairs.
  • A flexible, proactive approach to maintenance activities, with the ability to support a variety of building trades as required.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrate relevant experience within the maintenance & construction industry
  • Current Full UK Driver’s Licence
  • Trade Qualification minimum Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) – Site Carpentry

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks
  • IOSH/CSCS
  • IPAF
  • Asbestos Awarness
  • First Aid at work
