Manager, Security Operations

N-able

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Dundee
Contract type: Full time
Why N-able

At N-able, we’re helping businesses become more secure, resilient, and ready for what comes next. Our end-to-end platform brings together AI-powered capabilities, flexible technology, and the expertise of a global team of N-ablites who care deeply about solving meaningful cybersecurity challenges. If you’re excited by high-impact work, continuous learning, and being part of a supportive team that shares knowledge freely, you’ll find people here who believe in what they do and in each other.

We’re looking for a Manager of Security Operations to help build and lead our SOC function in our Dundee hub, supporting MSP partners and SaaS environments. This is a chance to shape how the team operates from the ground up: bringing technical credibility, calm leadership, and a continuous-improvement mindset to a growing security operation with real customer impact.

In this role, you’ll lead SOC analysts and help ensure security alerts and incidents are handled with speed, accuracy, and care. You’ll bring structure to day-to-day operations, coach and mentor others, strengthen processes, and partner with senior leadership to raise the bar for threat detection, response, and service delivery.

If you’re a technically credible SOC leader who enjoys building teams, mentoring strong analysts, and improving how security operations work at scale, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact from day one. You’ll join a collaborative environment where curiosity, practical problem-solving, and knowledge sharing are encouraged and where your ideas can help shape a growing team.

The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days a week in the Dundee hub.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise SOC analysts in day-to-day monitoring and incident response activities
  • Ensure proper documentation and escalation of security events
  • Maintain SOC procedures and ensure consistent execution
  • Collaborate with other teams to support investigations and remediation efforts
  • Monitor SOC performance and contribute to reporting
  • Assist in on-boarding and training of new analysts
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives
  • Improve detection quality while reducing noise
  • Enhance customer trust and retention through strong incident handling

What You'll Bring

  • Excellent track record in cybersecurity or IT operations and solid experience of leading and motivating teams
  • Strong experience in MSP, MSSP, or SaaS environments
  • Considerable experience in SOC environments and incident response
  • Deep understanding of SIEM, EDR, endpoint security, and cloud environments
  • Proven ability to manage 24/7 operations and high-volume alert environments
  • Ability to bridge technical details and business impact
  • Leadership + stakeholder management (internal + external)
  • Strong operational mindset (metrics, SLAs, service delivery) coupled with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Certifications such as SEC+, GCIA, or GCIH are beneficial

Purple Perks

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Generous PTO and observed holidays
  • 2 Paid VoluNteer Days per year
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • FuN-raising opportunities as part of our giving program
  • N-ablite Learning – custom learning experience as part of our investment in you
  • The Way We Work – our hybrid working model based on trust and flexibility
