About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Management Accountant to support the General Manager and local racecourse teams to develop and deliver the financial plans for our Exeter & Wincanton racecourses. This includes producing reliable and accurate management accounts and the provision of thoughtful information and analysis.

The Management Accountant will

  • Own monthly management accounts for two racecourses, including journals, variance analysis, and issue resolution with cross-functional teams
  • Deliver clear, insight-led monthly performance packs focused on key KPIs and commercial drivers
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles with robust financial modelling to support operational and commercial decisions
  • Partner with General Managers to complete raceday returns and ensure accurate, timely reporting
  • Drive cost accuracy at source by supporting and improving local financial processes and controls
  • Perform balance sheet and system reconciliations, ensuring integrity between accounting and booking systems
  • Provide proactive financial analysis and insights, supporting budget holders to meet or exceed targets
  • Lead budget review meetings and contribute to investment appraisals, including pre- and post-project analysis

About you

  • Experience producing accurate monthly management accounts and supporting month-end close
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation skills with a focus on accuracy and control
  • Good understanding of management information systems and financial data flows
  • Advanced Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and problem-solving
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to tasks
  • Proactive mindset with a genuine desire to learn and improve processes
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
