Loss Control Team Leader


  • Lead and develop a team of 12 Loss Control surveyors across our Northern UK region (including Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern Wales), with accountability for team performance

About the role

You’ll lead a team of Loss Control Surveyors across our North region, ensuring our customers receive a high quality and consistent loss control service. You’ll set clear direction, support performance and create an environment where people are engaged, supported and focused on delivering good outcomes for members.


Working closely with senior surveyors, agents and colleagues across NFU Mutual, you’ll plan workloads, monitor service levels and ensure regulatory and operational standards are met. Alongside day-to-day leadership duties, you’ll oversee complaints, risks and issues, and play a key role in improving processes and ways of working within Loss Control.


You’ll work in a hybrid way, spending your time both working from home as well as undertaking regular travel to accompany surveyors on site visits and attend quarterly face to face team meetings.

You’ll be keen to further your career at NFU Mutual in a people management role, demonstrating a strong track record of managing performance, developing others and delivering results in a regulated, customer focused environment. You bring confidence, clarity and consistency to your leadership approach and are comfortable leading geographically dispersed teams.

Experience leading, developing or mentoring team members, including handling performance management tasks
  • Strong knowledge of general insurance related principles, processes and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, agents and other stakeholders
  • Experience of managing change and implementing process improvement
  • A relevant technical or professional qualification, such as ACII or ILM, or equivalent experience
