Help Young People Discover What They Can Do

A good Learning Support Assistant doesn't simply give pupils the answers.

They help young people develop the confidence, strategies and independence to find their own way forward.

We're recruiting a Learning & Development Support Practitioner for an educational setting in Truro, working with students who require additional support with their learning and development.

With full-time and part-time opportunities available, this could suit someone already experienced within education or an individual looking to bring transferable skills into a rewarding SEND environment.

What Does the Role Involve?

You'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to understand the individual needs of the pupils you support.

Depending On The Student And Situation, You May

• Provide 1:1 learning support.
• Lead or support small-group activities.
• Help pupils understand classroom instructions and tasks.
• Adapt resources and learning activities.
• Reinforce key learning.
• Encourage communication and positive social interaction.
• Help pupils develop confidence and independence.
• Support emotional wellbeing and regulation.
• Use agreed approaches to support positive behaviour.
• Help students manage transitions throughout their day.
• Monitor progress and communicate observations.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  
  

What Could You Bring?

Relevant experience is valuable, but it doesn't necessarily have to come from a classroom.

You may have worked within education, SEND, care, youth services, mentoring, coaching, residential support or another role involving children and young people.
