Head of Litigation

Salary: Up to £85,000 (Depending on Experience)

Location: Runcorn (Office Based)

Hours: Monday - Friday | No Weekends | Early Finish Fridays

Lead one of the UK's largest volume litigators.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced litigation professional to take responsibility for DCB Legal's high-volume Bulk Litigation function.

Leading a substantial operation comprising in-house Paralegals and Litigation Specialists, together with external partners and advocates, you will have overall responsibility for ensuring our litigation operation remains efficient, compliant, commercially successful and capable of continuing to scale.

We're seeking someone who can help us continue building the litigation operation of the future by challenging existing processes, increasing automation and embracing AI and emerging technologies to continually improve the way we operate.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for our Bulk Litigation function, leading our in-house Paralegals and Litigation Specialists alongside our external partner network.

You will oversee litigation performance across the full case lifecycle, acting as the senior escalation point for complex matters and maintaining key relationships with HMCTS, individual Courts and the Court Mediation Service.

You will also have oversight of our advocacy function, external suppliers and adverse costs budget, ensuring strong performance, quality and commercial control.

Working closely with Legal, Operations, IT and Development, you will use MI and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive our continued investment in automation, AI and emerging technology, ensuring the operation remains efficient and scalable as litigation volumes grow.

What We Are Looking For

You will need to combine legal understanding, operational leadership, commercial awareness and technological curiosity.

You will be comfortable leading substantial teams and complex workflows while retaining sufficient technical understanding to challenge decisions, manage risk and provide senior oversight.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous litigation experience, ideally within debt recovery, volume or high-volume civil litigation.
• Senior leadership experience within a legal environment, with a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedure and Court processes.
• Strong commercial awareness, including oversight of external suppliers and litigation costs.
• Experience delivering process improvement, transformation or automation, with a strong interest in AI and emerging legal technology.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge, influence and drive change at a senior level.
