Role Overview:

As General Manager, you will have full accountability for the commercial and operational performance of the store, including all catering operations. You will lead large, multi-disciplinary teams, drive profitable growth, and create a positive, high-performing culture where people are clear on expectations, supported to succeed, and proud of the standards they deliver.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop retail and catering management teams to achieve sales, service, and profitability targets.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day operations across the store and catering outlets, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and excellent customer experience.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and KPIs, driving performance through effective planning, cost control, and clear accountability.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, food safety standards, health & safety legislation, and legal requirements.
  • Work closely with department and catering managers to optimise merchandising, menus, stock levels, space utilisation, and presentation.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, succession planning, and performance management across all departments.
  • Analyse sales, labour, and customer data to identify opportunities, manage risk, and support informed decision-making.
  • Act as a visible, hands-on leader, setting standards through presence, behaviour, and decision-making.

  • Proven experience in a senior retail management role, ideally in a large or multi-departmental store.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a focus on staff development.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and ability to drive financial performance.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in analysing data and creating actionable strategies.
