Our work matters to millions. It will matter to you too. Join our Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering (BBGE) team as a Factory Manager and you will be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work. This role is based out of our site in Bottesford.

Role purpose: To lead BBGE’s precast pile manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality production that meets programme demand across major infrastructure projects. This role provides technical, operational and resource leadership to deliver consistent factory output aligned to BBGE production requirements.


What you'll be doing


The successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:

  • Ensure all factory operations are delivered safely and in compliance with BBGE and BBUK Zero Harm requirements;
  • Manage day‑to‑day production scheduling to meet project delivery programmes;
  • Lead and develop factory teams, including training, competency, performance and workforce planning;
  • Monitor and optimise production processes to maximise output and minimise defects, waste and downtime;
  • Ensure compliance with all technical specifications, quality controls and testing regimes;
  • Oversee plant, machinery and equipment maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation;
  • Manage materials procurement, stock levels and supply‑chain performance;
  • Maintain accurate records including production output, quality checks, maintenance logs and H&S reporting;
  • Support BBGE project teams with technical manufacturing expertise and delivery planning;
  • Develop external sales opportunities and explore alternative precast product lines to support business growth and maximise factory output;
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, workflow efficiency and innovation;
  • Ensure continued improvement in factory environmental impact to achieve and exceed BB Group commitments.

Who we're looking for


The successful candidate will have the following qualities and experience:

  • Experience in precast, concrete, heavy manufacturing or piling‑related production
    environments is preferred, but not essential;
  • Knowledge of precast pile production processes is desirable;
  • Proven leadership capability in a factory or industrial setting;
  • A strong understanding of production scheduling, quality assurance and manufacturing safety;
  • Proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office and production‑tracking software;
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
