Hello and welcome - we're really glad you found us!
At Sungrow UK, we're powering the energy transition one battery at a time - and we need a sharp, driven ESS Delivery Project Manager to make sure our energy storage projects are delivered with excellence, from contract signature all the way through to final commissioning and handover.
About
The UK energy storage market is booming, and you'll be right at the heart of it. Curious what this is all about? Let's dive right in:
- Lead the full lifecycle delivery of utility-scale and C&I Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK - owning scope, schedule, budget, and quality from kick-off to handover.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, EPCs, system integrators, investors, and technical advisors throughout the entire project journey, building trust at every milestone.
- Coordinate cross-functional internal teams - including engineering, supply chain, logistics, and service - as well as external contractors and subcontractors, keeping everyone aligned and moving forward.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk registers, delivery schedules, and commissioning documentation, ensuring full traceability and audit readiness at all times.
- Oversee payment milestone tracking, change management processes, and contract compliance, proactively flagging and resolving deviations before they escalate.
- Support and attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) alongside customers, ensuring quality standards are met at every stage.
- Monitor UK ESS market developments, regulatory requirements, and grid connection standards, ensuring projects remain compliant with applicable codes and certifications.
- Drive continuous improvement within the ESS delivery function, contributing lessons learned and best practices to strengthen the team's capability over time.
Role
All right, all right - that was pretty exciting, wasn't it? Now, in order to truly thrive in this role and feel at home for a long time, your ideal background should look a lot like this:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a comparable technical field - you need to speak the language of BESS.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on project management experience in the energy storage, solar PV, or broader renewable energy sector; experience with EPC companies or BESS manufacturers is a strong advantage.
- Solid technical understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including PCS, BMS, grid connection requirements, and utility-scale storage architecture - you don't need to be the engineer, but you need to understand what they're building.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, international environment, with strong attention to detail and organisational discipline.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills - equally confident presenting to investors, walking a construction site, or aligning with colleagues in Munich or Shanghai.
- Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or CAPM are highly desirable.
- English C1 proficiency is required; additional European languages or Mandarin are a plus.
- A proactive, solutions-first mindset - you anticipate problems, act decisively, and keep the project moving no matter what.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally (up to 30-40% travel expected).
Joining Sungrow's ESS Delivery team in the UK means working on some of the most impactful clean energy projects in the country - right now, when it matters most.
Here's What You Can Look Forward To
- A front-row seat in the UK's rapidly growing battery energy storage market, working on large-scale projects that are actively shaping the country's energy future.
- A collaborative, international team culture where your expertise is valued, your growth is supported, and your ideas genuinely make a difference.
- Competitive salary and an attractive performance-based bonus structure tied to clear, agreed KPIs.
- Real career progression pathways within a global greentech leader - Sungrow is the world's largest PV inverter manufacturer, operating in over 60 countries.
- Access to technical and commercial training, including opportunities to engage with our R&D headquarters and ESS innovation teams globally.
- A dynamic, purpose-driven workplace where every project you deliver brings the UK one step closer to a fully clean grid.
We are a green tech company with young creative minds.
