Job Description:
  • Want to learn a trade, earn money and build a career in a business that keeps homes, shops, offices and building sites running?
  • Phase Electrical is an electrical wholesaler based across Sussex and Kent. That means they supply the cables, lighting, tools, switches, sockets and other electrical products that electricians and tradespeople need to do their jobs.
  • Their branches are busy, practical places where customers come in every day needing the right products, good advice and quick service. You do not need to know about electrical products before you start – we will teach you.
  • This apprenticeship is a chance to learn how a trade counter, warehouse and branch works in the electrical industry before specialising in Year 2.
  • You will gain a recognised Level 2 Trade Supplier Apprenticeship in your first year, while building skills in customer service, sales, stock, deliveries and day-to-day branch operations.
  • In year 2, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 apprenticeship pathway, based on your strengths, performance and the area of the business that suits you best - such as sales, marketing, head office, sales management or something else.
  • This role is designed as a long-term career opportunity, not just a short-term job. You will get support, training and real experience to help you build confidence, understand the trade, and work towards higher-level roles in the future.
  • If you want to kickstart a career, with a company that cares and learn from the ground up - this is the opportunity for you!
  • What you'll do
  • Year 1 – Trade Supplier Apprenticeship (Level 2)
  • Trade Counter Sales
    • Act as the first point of contact for customers visiting the branch
    • Deliver excellent customer service and create a positive customer experience
    • Assist customers with product enquiries and provide solutions
    • Answer telephone calls and support customer queries
    • Work closely with the branch team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
    • Develop your product knowledge and understanding of the electrical wholesale sector
  • Distribution & Warehouse Operations
    • Pick, pack and prepare customer orders for collection and delivery
    • Receive, check and process incoming deliveries
    • Book stock in and out accurately
    • Put stock away and maintain organised storage areas
    • Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
    • Deliver goods to customers and sites when required
    • Follow company procedures for handling goods and stock control
    • Help maintain a safe working environment and follow health and safety requirements
  • You'll also have the opportunity of completing work experience with a Phase Electrical customer - going out with an electrician - giving you first-hand insight into how our products are used on live sites. This experience is designed to help you understand the urgency of customer demand, the importance of working in a fast-paced environment, and the value of delivering excellent customer service under pressure.
  • Year 2 – Developing Your Specialism
    • During your second year, following successful completion of the Level 2 Trade Supplier Apprenticeship Standard, you will progress onto a new Level 3 apprenticeship pathway, which will be tailored to your strengths, performance and development during Year 1.
    • Working closely with your managers, you will continue to build your skills and knowledge within the area that best suits your abilities and career ambitions. This may include further development in customer-facing sales, branch operations, distribution, or another appropriate pathway within Phase Electrical.
    • The aim of Year 2 is to build on your foundation year, increase your responsibility within the business, and provide a clear development route towards a higher-level role within Phase Electrical.

Person Specification:
    • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
    • A strong work ethic and reliable approach
    • An interest in developing a long-term career
    • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • A commitment to providing excellent customer service

No previous experience is required - just enthusiasm, drive and a passion to succeed.

Training and support:
    • Full training from experienced industry professionals
    • Support from your branch team throughout your apprenticeship
    • A dedicated Supplytrain Apprentice Coordinator who will help you settle into your role
    • Ongoing mentoring support

Benefits:
    • Four-weekly pay
    • 5.6 weeks paid annual leave
    • Company pension scheme (where eligible)
    • Structured career development opportunities
    • Supportive team environment
    • Opportunity to progress into higher-level roles within the business
    • Earn two recognised qualifications
