Job Description Summary

Reporting to the A&C Senior Product Manager – Marine Automation, the DP product manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the DP business strategy for Power Conversion through the identification of growth opportunities, platform convergence, new technologies, partnerships and lifecycle planning.

The Dynamic Positioning Product Manager plays an important role in the product lifecycle process and is responsible for ensuring the overall structure of the complete DP solution meets the demands of high availability systems while ensuring they are easy to use, efficient to configure, resilient and cyber secure.

The product manager has experience in marine automation area and has experience of contributing to the design and direction of DP systems.

Job Description

In this role you will focus on:

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Understand DP trends in Navy, Offshore & Merchant and identify growth opportunities .

  • Develop and maintain the DP product roadmap aligned with company objectives and market trends.

  • Identify new opportunities for product innovation and differentiation.

  • Define and implement the Multi-Generational Product Plan (MGPP), working closely with the business teams.

Market & Customer Insights

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to understand customer requirements and emerging technologies.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including shipowners, operators, and classification societies.

  • Develop customer connections through presenting papers, attending trade shows and key customer visits, focused on what problems our customers want us to solve.

  • Use customer and market feedback to produce lifecycle strategies and develop value propositions.

Product Management & Development

  • Manage product portfolio, and ensure a competitive position and product vitality.

  • Deliver product and solution developments to meet strategic, lifecycle and project requirements.

  • Work with product and program engineering manager to build a multi-year technology roadmap.

  • Communicate and sync with regional teams to ensure the growth strategy is well understood.

  • Pro-actively manage product convergence, while providing a cost-effective roadmap for customer migration

  • Optimize key supply chain relationships. Understand and implement cost management strategies.

  • Participate in the Product & Technology Board meetings to ensure strategy is aligned.

  • Work closely with Product Management organisation to ensure product family solutions work well together.

Commercial Support

  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies.

  • Provide technical and commercial support during customer engagements and bids.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure DP systems meet IMO, DP Class (DP1, DP2, DP3), and relevant classification society requirements.

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and integrate them into product planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Demonstrated proficiency and sustained experience in marine systems, offshore operations, or DP technology.

  • Strong understanding of DP principles, thruster control, and vessel automation.

  • Proven experience in product management or technical leadership roles.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with DP software, sensors, and integration with propulsion systems.

  • Knowledge of offshore energy markets (oil & gas, renewables).

  • Experience with Agile product development methodologies.

  • Knowledge of the disciplines and inter-relationship between product management and supply chain, engineering/technology & related functions, costing systems, financial reporting measures

  • Good knowledge of Cyber security (IEC 62443, NIST etc..)

  • Strategically aware, coupled with tactical implementation experience. Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues. Six sigma/lean awareness is preferred.

  • Experience of operating in a matrix environment with strong relationship-building capability, able to work effectively across functions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of influencing and driving a strategic agenda. Strong oral & written communication skills. A great communicator at all levels of a business.
