Contract Manager

EDF Energy

Date: 8 hours ago
City: Sunderland
Contract type: Full time
About the Role

Are you an experienced commercial contracts professional who thrives on managing supplier relationships, maximising contract value, and supporting the operation of critical renewable energy assets across the UK?

At EDF power solutions, we’re delivering an Electric UK and Ireland.

As Contract Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our operational wind, solar and renewable assets receive exceptional commercial support. You'll build strategic supplier relationships, manage complex contracts, resolve commercial issues, and help maximise performance, value and accountability across our growing renewables portfolio.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to become the commercial focal point for key operational contracts within one of the UK's leading renewable energy businesses. You'll manage a portfolio of service and operational contracts that are critical to the performance, safety and reliability of our renewable energy assets, including wind farms and associated infrastructure.

Working closely with Asset Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, HSE and external partners, you'll support the full contract lifecycle, from issuing contractual instructions and administering contract changes through to commercial negotiations, performance management and dispute resolution. You'll play a key role in ensuring strategic suppliers deliver high-quality, high-voltage services that support safe and efficient operations.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, you'll join a growing business operating at the forefront of the energy transition. This role offers hybrid working, with majority working from home, but you will need to travel to operational assets, supplier locations and one of our offices when the business requires. (Office locations include: #London. #Edinburgh, #Sunderland, #Dublin and #Cardiff)

This role requires someone who is comfortable operating independently, managing multiple priorities and navigating a dynamic operational environment where commercial strategies and contract requirements can evolve. You'll provide commercially focused support across a wide range of operational and maintenance activities, helping to maximise value, manage risk and ensure contractual compliance across our growing renewables portfolio.

Why EDF power solutions?

We’re united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK & Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Contract Manager who combines strong commercial expertise with a proactive and collaborative approach. To be shortlisted, you'll need:

  • Experience in contract management and supplier performance management
  • Experience negotiating, administering and varying contracts throughout their lifecycle
  • Experience managing operational, maintenance or service contracts and supporting supply chain activities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams and external partners
  • Experience managing strategic suppliers, driving performance and resolving commercial issues
  • Strong knowledge of contract terms and conditions, commercial risk and governance
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of contracts and competing priorities
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and their commercial implications (IOSH desirable but not necessary)
  • A relevant commercial, procurement, supply chain or business qualification, or equivalent experience within a complex industry

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing strategic supplier relationships and driving accountability across operational contracts
  • Supporting the commercial management of service and maintenance contracts for renewable energy assets
  • Negotiating contracts, issuing contractual instructions and managing contract variations and scope changes
  • Monitoring supplier performance and delivering effective contract governance
  • Supporting supply chain activities and providing commercial guidance to operational teams
  • Managing claims, disputes and commercial risks to successful resolution
  • Working closely with stakeholders across Asset Operations, Engineering, HSE and Supply Chain
  • Providing commercial support on Health & Safety-related matters and investigations where required
  • Ensuring critical services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual obligations

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, our employee benefits include flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle – from electric vehicle leasing and private healthcare to extra holiday and more.
