Overview
We are seeking to recruit a Commercial Team Member to be based in our Aylesbury office, supporting the Buckinghamshire Highways Alliance Partnership.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, supervisors, technicians, and commercial professionals, you will support the delivery of commercial, quantity surveying, and contract management activities across a portfolio of highways and infrastructure projects.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their commercial career within a collaborative environment. You will assist with cost management, contract administration, procurement, financial reporting, and project controls while gaining exposure to NEC contracts and major highways projects.
Purpose of the role
The Commercial Team Member provides essential commercial and quantity surveying support to the Alliance, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget. The role is ideal for developing commercial professionals who want to build experience in highways, NEC contracts, cost management, and project delivery while working alongside experienced commercial managers and project teams.

Purpose of the role

Your role
- Support the commercial management of projects and programmes.
- Assist with cost monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Help identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Provide commercial support to project teams and operational managers.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly commercial reports and performance updates.
- Prepare estimates, cost plans, and pricing information.
- Assist with the preparation of bills of quantities and tender documents.
- Support valuations, payment assessments, and final account preparation.
- Undertake quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Maintain cost records and project commercial documentation.
- Assist with NEC contract administration activities.
- Assist in procurement and tender evaluation activities.
- Support the management of supplier and subcontractor accounts.
- Help monitor subcontractor performance and payment processes.
- Develop positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and supply chain partners.
- Participate in project and commercial meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial team.
- Relevant experience within Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- Working towards professional membership with RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent.
- Awareness of NEC contracts.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools.
- Basic understanding of commercial principles and project cost management.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Ability to work as part of a team and manage competing priorities.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a commercial environment.
