Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established surveying and consultancy business that delivers specialist services to the social housing sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to join their expanding team.

This opportunity would suit a recent Building Surveying or Construction graduate looking to gain valuable industry experience, or someone with previous experience in stock condition surveying, domestic energy assessment, or a related surveying role.

The Role

As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you will support the delivery of housing stock condition surveys across a range of residential portfolios. Working closely with Project Managers, you will assess property conditions, identify maintenance requirements, and collect accurate asset data using specialist surveying software.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting stock condition surveys of residential properties

  • Assessing the condition of building components and recommending renewal periods

  • Recording survey findings, photographs, and commentary using tablet-based software

  • Identifying defects, damp and mould issues, health and safety concerns, and safeguarding matters

  • Managing appointments and survey schedules efficiently

  • Liaising with residents, clients, and internal project teams

  • Providing accurate and detailed survey information to support client asset management strategies

Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (completed or currently studying), or relevant industry experience

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach

  • Good IT skills and confidence using mobile technology

  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle

  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home when required
