Alternative Provision SENCO
Zen Educate
Location: Central Nottingham (Multiple Sites)
Position Type: Maternity Cover (Full-Time)
Setting: Alternative Provision (Primary & Secondary)
Are you an experienced SENCO looking for a meaningful leadership role in Nottingham?
Zen Educate is seeking a highly organised and passionate SENCO to provide maternity cover for a dynamic Alternative Provision based in Central Nottingham. This unique setting caters to students aged 7 to 16 who have been disengaged from mainstream education, often presenting with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and complex learning barriers.
Spanning multiple sites across the city, this role requires a leader who is mobile, adaptable, and committed to ensuring that every child—regardless of their background—receives the specialist support they deserve.
The Role
As the SENCO for this Central Nottingham provision, you will oversee the strategic direction of SEN support across multiple locations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining the SEN register and EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) reviews for students aged 7 to 16.
- Coordinating with external agencies, parents, and local authorities to ensure holistic support.
- Mentoring and supporting staff across different sites to implement effective SEN strategies.
- Tracking pupil progress and ensuring that interventions are high-impact and data-driven.
- Leading on the transition process for pupils entering or leaving the Alternative Provision.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a SENCO, ideally within an Alternative Provision or with students exhibiting SEMH needs.
- The ability to manage a workload across multiple sites in Central Nottingham.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire a diverse team of educators.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
